Biographies Children’s Books

Any ideas on a really inspiring biography for an aspiring children’s writer? Preferably a UK book.?
Hi,
For mothers day I want to buy my mum either an inspiring biography from a fellow writer who struggled and made it or a book to help her get published again (she has had books published in the past, but struggling now). She already has the writers year book.
Thanks
Sorry, or autobiography

Your question led me to immediately think of E. Nesbit, a UK author of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who wrote great children’s book so well, they’re still kept in the home libraries of my offspring and me. They’ve even inspired names of pets and more.
Searching for a “biography or memoir” at Amazon, I saw these: They both look good…
-”Long Ago When I Was Young” by E. Nest
…said by Publishers Weekly to be “…the only autobiography of an author of The Railway Children and Five Children and It…in novella form …a generous and sympathetic look at …memories of boarding school and French Lessons…”
It was published by Dial Publishers in 1988 and is 127 pages long.
There may be more forms of this now but not seen at Amazon.
-A biography was written about Nesbit too, by Julia Briggs.
I found it in many forms (always with this similar title) …a hardcover from ‘88 and a paperback from ‘93…
“A Woman of Passion: The Life of E. Nesbit 1858-1925″…
… also called “Woman of Passion: The Life of E. Nesbit” both by Julia Briggs.

Shine [VHS] $0.72 This tearjerker by Australian filmmaker Scott Hicks is a surprising story about real-life classical pianist David Helfgott, an Australian who rose to international prominence at a very young age in the 1950s and ’60s, and suffered a psychological collapse after enduring years of abuse from his father (Armin Mueller-Stahl). Hicks has three very fine actors portraying Helfgott at different stages of… |

Jesus (2000) [VHS] $1.53 Tackling the story of Jesus for film is bound to incur controversy. Yet, in a bold move, CBS produced the television miniseries Jesus, which not only retells the biblical story, but takes a look at the more human side of the man. Jeremy Sisto stars, and although it takes a little while for him to gather enough momentum to have us believing him in this role, overall he is surprisingly convincing. W… |

Cleopatra (Special Edition) [VHS] $2.00 This 1963 extravaganza, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, is certainly an epic historical drama with all the elements: elaborate sets, intricate costuming, name actors, a factual basis, and an overlong script (just over four hours). But the acting is well performed and the backdrops are lush, making this a film worth seeing. Elizabeth Taylor is Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen who seduces Julius Caes… |

Malcolm X (Two-Disc Special Edition) $12.87 Just as Do the Right Thing was the capstone of Spike Lee’s earlier career, Malcolm X marked the next milestone in the filmmaker’s artistic maturity. It seemed everything Lee had done up to that point was to prepare him for this epic biography of America’s fiery civil-rights leader, who is superbly played by Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington, from his early days as a zoot-suited hustler known as “D… |
