Are believers declaring that Christ did not give his own followers instructions on how to be saved?

Believers tell me that after training the Apostles for over 2 years that they they ended up not knowing that the Crucifixion was “good news for mankind.” So by making this kind of reference, are they proposing that Jesus Christ did not give his own disciples an explanation on how to be saved? (Since if his own selected Apostles didn’t know, then it was even less likely that his many hundreds of disciples had even less chance of knowing)

So did he leave all those disciples without explaining how to be saved?

My opinion is on my biography which has a focus on the Kingdom Gospel rather than the popular gospel, but I want to know what you think.

John 3:2-4 (King James Version)

2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
